its not electrical. I think soft 02 is onto something. I might get one massive crank of the engine, but its an awful clunk. its mechanical. something is slipping, snapped, jammed. I guess it'll have to get towed in.
No dead battery. connections are spotless. batttery is new in april 2010. It is sitting the battery tender now, but did not jump it, per se.
Its gotta be mechanical. What engages just as the engine turns over? I can feel it in my grind in the seat of my pants. Sounds horrific.
Battery.
Multiple clicks and no turnover is normally a sign of a weak battery.
Battery can discharge over a period of time especially if you have some kind of aftermarket alarm.
Battery or charging system could have a defect.
Was battery load tested? were the cables AT the battery tugged and also at other end.
Even a brand new battery could have issues and both ends of battery cable require review.

+ 1 .......pull the batt and have the local parts store put it on a load test. The cold cranking amp rating should be on the sticker to see if it will produce or has a short and is taking a dump.
I ended up putting a quart and a half in it. It was certainly low. Battery charged overnight too. It turned over kinda hard in the morning But it calmed down after a few miles and shaped right up. It just needed to be ridden and oil circulated a little bit. Its fine now....and sold.
