With so much discussion about different pipes and their loudness, has anyone seen any kind of published comparisons of the different brands? I realize that there are different baffles available for some pipes and that may make it difficult to compare some pipes, but just the same I was wondering if this had been done.
I've searched around in the past but didn't find anything. Every bike and exhaust setup isn't exactly alike. I don't think you'll really be able to find anything definite. Just guessing, but I'm betting most manufacturers (and customers) don't want that information published. If it was, then cops would know exactly how many decibels a bike would put out. They wouldn't even need to hear the exhaust, they could just write you a ticket parked on the street. With the way it is now you can at least lay off the throttle when in town.

I did find one review a couple yrs ago on 8 different 2-1 pipes makers.
I've looked since then and can't find it...
They did dyno's with the same bike, same dyno, same operator....for results.
That's what I was hoping to find.
Of course, there are lots of variables, but it would be nice to know where certain pipes stack up relative to each other. I was on a ride last weekend and a guy was asking if my Thunderheaders were louder than the S.E.'s that he recently took off his Dyna. He was riding behind and left of me on the ride, but I didn't get a chance to ask him afterwards because he bailed just before the end of the ride...
I'd sure be interested in seeing that. I run two inch drag pipes with torque cone, and I can ASSURE you 100% that I ride with guys with allot of various exhausts systems that deafen me and WAY drown of my setup.
