It wouldn't have killed the guy driving the car to stop. Isn't that just courtesy? No one's gonna mess him up for stopping to see if he could help out.
He stopped for a minute. Who are all of those bikers going to assume caused the dummy to go off the road? I hope the motorcycle rider wasn't hurt too badly, what an idiot. Slow down for cryin' out loud. It's not an airplane, you can't fly damnit!
One of the biggest faults with some HD riders is that they think it is a sport bike and it is not. Therefore they push it to limit and end up beyond the limit of it's capabilities.
If you want to take corners at speed buy leathers and a Honda. Otherwise sit back, relax and smell the roses.
Watch the clip again. This had little to do with speed but rather poor riding habits. Bike riding 101 says the bike is going to go where you look. Watch the rider and see that he is looking at the drop off the whole time. He was riding beyond his capabilities not the bikes.
I did the Dragon on my Rune two years ago and on my Ultra this year. I crossed the double yellow once. That was on the Ultra at the sharpest almost V turn. My bad!
I would be the guy going 30mph the whole time, lol. With my big frame, the GF,lowered 2 inches. The bike barely gets us through any corner without scrapping my pipes. So,yeah, better make that 27mph the whole time
...and that would be bad because...? Dude, that's the whole thing. You know your bike, your know your skills, and you adjust the riding style accordingly. I know that I wouldn't go faster then what I feel safe with. For chrissakes, it's a Harley. I'll take my time and enjoy the ride rather then to try to scratch my pegs around every corner. I would avoid groups (usually there's always a jackass who needs to prove himself and be "da man" at the end of the day.) and take it slow. but that's just me.
I did the dragon last year and it was my first time. I did cross the double yellow once. Lucky it was a slow day and no oncomming traffic and I was able to correct my mistake. I was going a little too fast for one of the switchbacks. My thoughts are this.. If its your first time, go on a weekday and TAKE YOUR TIME! That aint no road for beginners!

This has become a major issue ever since the dragon was featured on the speed channel. Over the years I've watched so many out ride their ability both on the dragon and in Spearfish canyon. It never fails. I've gotten to the point that I now make my annual trips to both before Memorial day and after Labor day.
