Rocky Mount HD (NC) had a deal last year.... on both 2009 and 2010 models.... MSRP out the door...
They sold new bikes for MSRP, and did not charge for tax, title, doc fees, freight, prep, or any of that.... it all came out of THEIR end.

so.. yeah... OTD does matter....

I can see the freight, prep, ect, BUT if you tag that bike you got to pay, tag, title and tax. I live in another state, when I go down to tag that bike, I will have to ante up Tag, title and taxes. Unless your telling me, they are going to give me a check for that amount. If that's the case then Sign me up for a new bike.
I can go anywhere and buy a bike with no TTL, but, when I return to the Republic of Texas, they will want their TTL, RFN- ("Right F*+kin Now").

OTD is just that in-state. Out of state yes you will need to know your state's tax, title and registration fees, add them on for your true OTD.

I could care less if I pay $5K in dealer fees as long as the total OTD was the price I want. In other words what do I care if they show it in peanuts or popcorn.......what is my bottom line to ride away.

I didn't know this was so complicated.

Thats one good thing about the UK. The price you see is the price you pay (unless you get a discount). All the taxes, registration, delivery etc are already included, as is the first service and HOG membership.

In fact when I realize what you guys have to pay on top of MSRP, I think on some models we are getting a good deal, especially considering our crappy exchange rates these days.

And your point is?
Oh Yeah, you must be smart enough to make a point first!

Try this one first.

See Spot run. Run Spot run. Look Jane look. See Spot run. -- Now you try it.

Out the Door price has nothing to do, with all the crap your talking about. Out the door price is exactly that! If your buying at out the door price, it doesn't matter what all they put on it ,or what they call it, out the door price is the lowest possible price, you can get that bike, from that dealer for.
It makes no difference what charges they put on or take off, Out the Door price- here's the bike-here's the price-there's the door!

Yup.... you are indeed screwed...

However.... if someone bought the bike at RMHD, and lived in NC, or VA, Them MSRP "out the door" meant, A person would have paid MSRP for the bike, taxes, title, doc fees, freight, prep, all came out of RMHD.
So... they would have gotten the bike, the title, and there would be a tag on the bike, and taxes would have been paid....

Frankly it wouldn't make any sense to me, for ANYONE to travel 1000 miles to buy a bike. Factoring in the expenses of travel. (food, fuel, lodging) plus their time..... It just doesn't compute. But then again... I know folks who will do just that.

and yes... when anyone transfers their vehicle to another state.... they will be responsible for any fees.
