Default Got the word.

I searched the WWW and talked to 10 different dealers with some wrong and right answers, and this the scoop. On the stock dip stick (of a solftail)and the analog dip the top mark (marked hot) is full when hot. The lower mark that says full on the stock DS(and analog) is full when cold. All HD would have to do is mark cold on the lower mark. But oh no. Most did not know the answer. No answer on web. The idea is to keep the oil between the two marks. So there you and I have it.

You're owner's manual didn't explain this? Mine has a diagram of the dipstick in it...

I got an old manual showing the scientific calculations to make to estimate the level of oil. Items like oil temp, density of the oil, branch of the oil (Castrol has another calculation model than Penzoil), temp of the air, stainless steel dipstick or carbon steel, altitude above sealevel, position of the moon, having s.x on the bike saddle the day before or not, color of the bike, type of rims and appr. 12 other more influences and important facts. If you mix these properly and place them in a formula one can even not only read the level of the oil but even if the girl of the s.x on the saddle was wearing specs or not. Unbelievable, these old manuals give answers to really every question about your bike....
