I don't think so. At least not substantially. I kind of watch my mileage and haven't noticed a difference. If anything, it might make you more aerodynamic. I considerd one of those "Corbin" deflectors, but just couldn't get past the looks.

The only change it made for me was that I can comfortably ride faster now. When riding at 80+ mileage goes down.
I have same milage with/without.

I have one and would think it would increase mileage rather than decrease it.

I was wondering the same thing about my 05 Springer Classic when I got it and had a few thousand miles on it noticed I wasn't getting near the mpg that I had gotten with the other HD's Ive had. So I made two 40mi. run's same road same speed and with in 1 1/2 hour's of each other
#1 run with the windshield 41 mpg.
#2 run with out windshield 50 mpg.
the windshield push's a lot air and that takes power and power mean's gas.

Well not really, you ran out of gas because you weren't paying attention [:@]

That's good info....I've heard alot of heresay and second-hand stories that say windshields increase mileage. It's good to hear that someone did their homework and found the opposite.

I can see were a faring like on a Bagger could do something for milage because they would do a lot better job of smoothing and redirecting the air flow around you. Were as the quick detach windshield is about as aerodynamic as a brick and is about as easy to push through the air as trying to carry a 4X8 foot sheet of plywood around on a windy day.

The only way a Windshield will make you run out of gas is if it cost too much and you can't afford to pay for gas.....
