Default 2 up riding tips

Any 2 up riding tips would be appreciated, I have never ridden with a passenger on the back but will be starting.

I think you'll find a lot of personal choice to this one, but I prefer my passengers to stay reasonably vertical, even when turning, that way I know what the bike will do if I have to make sudden changes.

Keeping their feet out of the spokes is a big plus too....

First off start out on short trips and get use to the difference in the way the bike handles. Make sure you are ready when she gets on and off and tell her not to make any sudden movements left or right because that will make the bike have a mind of it's own. Been there and done that. And don't ride over your ability to control the bike.

Agree with AL. For me it was a big difference from my Duc, the wife was ON my back then and had no choice but lean along with me. Now I like her to sit up and ignore everything I do.

Make sure your passenger looks good too!

Getting on and off are IMO the most important things. Make sure she knows not to get on untill you say so. The same for getting off. Make sure she always wears long pants and socks because of potential pipe burns. Make sure she knows that she has to lean with the bike and not against it in corners.

Please get her a full face. I have seen too many rookies head bounce into the back of the riders lid, and a lady with a broken nose isn't fun to live with.

Stopping distance increases due to extra weight. I agree about the mounting and dismounting comments above, make sure you are ready before they get on. Then enjoy, I love havin my girl behind me!
P.S.- you will also find out if you and your partner are compatible on long trips, they are right there with no where to "hide" if ya have any disagreements!!!

I agree with all the above. I also suggest you take it easy. 2 up is not the time for racing or extreme floorboard scrapeing turns.

Great advice above. Start relatively slow and build your and your lady,s confidence. Maybe tell her to give you a nudge or something if all is not well, it can be useful to have some sort of signalling.....
