A good ride at night was when the Lucas "Prince of Darkness" electrics would actually get you all the way home with the lights still working. I still have my old manual impact driver, you know the kind you whacked with a hammer. The most important thing in your tool box if you had a British bike.
I forgot to add: Sunoco 260. Man, that WAS jet fuel to the English Iron!
To the guy who "couldn't read all these posts"...you probably weren't there; I had to read them ALL, slowly. Maybe again, just for the images, and forgotten friends!
How many remember ditching all those unreliable and unnecessary pieces such as hydraulic lifters and electronic ignition just in case they failed somewhere near bum**** Egypt? Did you ever hear of that happening? Must have been the right choice.
Let's see a show of hands of those that saved 20 cents by not replacing the 2nd gear retaining clip and blew a hole in the bottom of their tranny? (My hand is up)
Who among us has used a big hammer, a torch and a cold chisel trying to remove a stuck compensator nut, only to find out it's a left hand thread?
Show of hands that overtightened their chain-oiler screw and broke it off? Who discovered that that position is the same as wide open? How many have more screw extractors than fingers?

Pretty soon we'll be paying a 25 cent toll just to get into the gas station parking lot. lol If that happens, I may move to Canada.
did the points, kick start, long rides just to go to a party we would hear about. camping just about anywhere.. sleeping on benches outside gas stations.. getting turned away by some motels.

I still have my buck.. I don't carry it anymore it's sits in a case with my other knives I've collected.
