Seems a bit early to ask but Autumn is just around the corner in Pennsylvania.
After much reading and a few answered questions from forum members here, I purchased and enjoyed my Warm & Safe heated jacket liner and gloves this past riding season.
I am now looking for some winter pant options for the cold temps which are sure to come.
I'd try some winter riding with just the jacket liner and gloves before hitting the pay button on the pants. I ride with only a heated vest liner and heated gloves and don't need the pants. The vest helps keep your core warm, and that goes a long way toward keeping your arms and legs warm. I do wear chaps in the winter to help with the wind, though.
Before I got a full set of heated gear I'd either wear chaps or Olympia Airglide 2 overpants which have an insulated/waterproof/windproof liner. Those Fieldsheers look similar to my Airglides and if so they should work well and at almost 1/2 the price.
Ordering them online, I'd be concerned about how they fit and look. I was fortunate to find my Airglides on the rack so that wasn't an issue.
I know you guys up North need your cold weather gear - BUT good Lord, we're just now hitting our 100 degree stretch and it's hard reading about liners and heated jackets.
I don't have heated gear, but do just fins with layers.
A good pair of overpants will do wonders over jeans. Those Fieldsheer pants should be fine. If it's really cold, I'll wear a pair of long johns under the jeans. That has taken care of me down to 6°F.
A friend of mine wears a snowmobile suit. Not a bad idea either.
Snowmobile bibs for me when it gets down in the 20s...Easy on and easy off with full length zippers down each side...I found them in the sportsman guide online...Less than $50.00
I know some guys wont ride in anything other than "Biker" attire but I use my heated jacket liner under a pair of Carhartt "blizzard proof" bib overalls. Then put my Tourmaster 3/4 jacket overtop. I use small bungee cords to wrap around the bottom of the pant legs so cold air doesn't blow up. It works for me. BTW, the blizzard proof overalls come in black, they have a really nice quilted lining and seem to be somewhat water resistant.
