Glad you weren't hurt. Way to many distractions out there, and people feel as though the rules don't apply to them! I've seen people reading, not a piece of mail or a flyer,I'm talkin about books and newspapers. How in the #e!! can you do that and pay attention to your suroundings?

Dude, you deserve to win a pink "I flipped Paris" T-Shirt for that

and that will no doubt lead to a "What cell phone using celebrity have you flipped off this week" thread

Here in Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal signed a new law which makes texting while driving in Louisiana a primary offense beginning August 15, 2010
KATC news interviewed some people and the older crowd said that it was a good law and some of the younger crowd said that they were going to continue texting. Whats wrong with this picture is that 3\4 of these teens can't drive worth a crap to begin with and add talking and texting to the mix and an accident is waiting to happen.
Drivers caught texting behind the wheel will continue to face a fine of $175 for the first offense and up to $500 for any that follow, maybe a couple of fines will change the attitude.

These stupid bastards need to see that video where the girls all crash and burn because they are texting while driving. GD LEOs need to put teeth into the laws. I am prone to kicking in doors when I see it. I almost ran an ******* off the road one day in town when he was weaving out of his lane while texting..I was in my Jeep and I had an Iraq flashback..no problem running some bastard off the road for me.
The other day I am at a light and some dumbass is texting. I think I yelled some obscenities but it does not phase them. This is a real problem and it is not being addressed by LE.

Get with the program LEOs

those of you ranting how cops need to do this or that.... how long has speeding been illegal? running red lights and stop signs? DUI? have any of these violations stopped happening yet?

society accepts these activities as a risk, cellphones are no different - the only time most people care is when they (or someone they care about) are hurt as a result. Nobody wants the other guy doing any of the above, but its okay if they do it themselves because they're really good drivers and can do them safely

drive/ride like they're out to kill you - nobody cares

I agree with the other poster that stated seeing someone driving that "isn't" on their phone is rare. I certainly notice it more in the summer when I am on the bike and this summer seems worse than in years past.

I think that riding a motorcycle makes you pay more attention than most when you are driving a cage. It also removes a lot of tolerance for stupidity behind the wheel by other drivers.

I would also like to see the relation of tickets written for cell phone use in relation to speeding and other violations. IMO it is no different that driving drunk.

+++1 I agree 100%. People all consider themselves to be the best driver out there! Others make mistakes, not them! You'd need to have a 500% increase in LEOs to make a difference. The problem is that everyone is so freakin' selfish that they could give a rats azz about others on the road. THe occasional considerate and polite driver is becoming quite rare. When I see someone doing the right thing, I'll give them the thumbs up. Not much danger of carpal tunnel from that maneuver!
