True story............... When I had a fast oil change place, we had an old gentlemen that always came in for service. He drove an old Ford LTD, you know, one of the big old sleds. He would always ask for Quaker State 15W40, which we never had, so I'm pretty sure he wasn't the sharpest pencil in the desk. Anyways, he had a set of the stick-on, wind operated, deer whistles on the dash, INSIDE THE CAR! We would always ask him if they worked and he would always say "Hell yes dey works! Dems da best damn things dey ever invented."
Never did have the heart to tell him if they even did work, they weren't going to where he had placed them.
If you live in an area where hitting deer is a definite possibility make sure your insurance covers you. We have had motorcycle accident calls from various states where coverage was denied (act of God) for variuos reasons. Russ Brown Motorcycle Lawyer
I know at one time the CHP had them on their cars (at least where I lived), and they put on a ton of miles. I asked an officer one time in they worked and he agreed with just about everyone else here...NO.
I use the whistle on 2 legged deers, It works 1 out of 10 times and is usually worth 7 dirty looks and 2 slaps across the face.
That is a different topic all together. "Do wolf whistles work?" Depends on how drunk the doe is.
Dunno bout the deer whistles. I do know deer are dumber than box of rocks. Had one charge out hit the Expedition we were driving through Spearfish Canyon, SD. Damn thing looked at us ran out and bam right in the side rear window. Watched him spin across the hwy get mad deer us and trot away.
I do know car horns **** off buffalo. So cager in Yellowstone got impatient waiting for the herd to cross. Soooooo...he blew his horn @ the buffalo version of a road guard. Next thing ya know buffalo horn to the grill of his cage. Damn near wet my assless chaps.
