I have a coat from newenough.com and so does my husband, if you leave the liner in they are alright at holding back wind, not nearly as good as leather. I know harley makes some coats that are pretty good but the newenough coats have removeable body armor in them.

I must be missing something.

There are about a dozen different nylon denier or kevlar fabrics out there, even more with variations on a theme, cut into all sorts of styles, some with armor and some without. Some of it is really good looking stuff. Huge selection of manufacturers to choose from.

If you want a textile jacket that handles an even wider array of weather, take a look at some of the nylon mesh jackets (also available with/w/o armor). They offer zip in/out linings that make them quite comfortable in cooler weather, but if you zip out the lining the mesh allows decent airflow in hot weather. Ideal for high desert type or other environments where it can be really cold before the sun comes up, but wicked hot in the afternoon.

While there are many to choose from, take a look at (google) the Joe Rocket line up of products. I have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket that is one of the handiest jackets I've ever seen, it works great in hot weather, and it protects you quite well when you wipe out. Don't ask me how I know that.

One example:

Best,

Doc

If you want to spend the money I would suggest Aerostich. They make some great suits. I don't have one, but I have friends that ride all year round between MN and TX and they wear them in both climates.
