charging issues
Ok, I have a 1999 heritage softail. 66,000 miles. Ive had the bike for a bit over 5 years with no issues. The First issue i started having was when i would run my spot lights for about 75 to 100 miles, all my lights would go out, so i just shut off the spot lights and all was good. Then back at the beginning of july, i rode for about an hour and shut the bike off to make a phone call. well had to push start the bike. But the battery is 5 years old. Soo i got to where i was going and was checking out the battery and the hot cable was a bit loose so i tightened it up and charge the battery back up. well went riding for a couple of hours, stopped to get gas and had to get a jump start. sothen i replaced the battery. well went riding again and yea had to push start it. so then i replaced the regulator, charged the battery again. hmmm went riding again, and yea had to push start it again. damn. so i replaced the stator.(the old one was burnt, so i charged the battery again and went riding. well had to push start it again. Then i got a multimeter and started going ober the wiring and even rewired the rear fender. only thing that isn't checking out is when i rev the bike, im not getting the voltage raise from the battery. so i replaced the battery again with a gel battery and im still not getting that raise to 13 and 14 volts. my headlight isn't dimming and brighting up either. i have run out options. could it be a ignition switch bad or even burnt the regulator again.right now the battery reads 11.75 volts. I even replaced the starter cause i couldn't even jup it one time. any answers would be really helpfull. (skanner67@yahoo.com) thank you.
