So I bought my 2006 NT used. The original owner adder a screaming eagle intake and V&H pipes. I guess he had the dealer remap for these because he did not add a tuner.
Bike has always ran good, but just recently it started popping on decal and back-firing while riding. I was told by the dealer that sounds like I was running lean. So I pulled the plugs and they are white in color so I guess I am running lean. Since this is a bad thing I need to get fixed ASAP. I have an appointment with the dealer on Tuesday to remap but I have been told to not take to the dealer just buy a Power Commander. So I started researching PC and have found different opinions. Some say buy the PC. Other say buy the Thunder max. And then there is the TTS.
Im new to HDs and I just need some help with opinions of what to do.
I don't think you can go wrong with FuelMoto, search here, I don't think there has ever been a negative comment. Just call them up and they'll take care of you .............
I run a Power Commander III that has been dyno tuned. I'm very happy with it's perfomance. That being said, if I was you I would do a search for Thundermax on here. I have heard nothing but good things on it's performance. The nice thing about the Thundermax is No Dyno money is spent. It tunes every time you ride. It does sound like your bike is lean, my decel popping was due to no fuel being delivered at 0% throttle. I just added a little fuel to those values and popping is a gurgle now. Bike runs like a raped ape.
there all good each has benifits i went with the h.d super tuner because i diden`t want to have a piece of equip on bike, but this is like a oil thread you`ll get hundreds of different opions
I hope I this will fix my problem and give me some gains.
Do I need to add new plugs?
I would (and did) get the retro-fit (for 06) PCV from fuel moto. I believe it's the same $$ and its half the size of the PCIII. Fitting under the seat is much easier. Change the plugs too. Also, if you trade up to a newer bike you may be able to keep the PCV.

I wouldn't change the plugs. I'd check the gap on them though. When the lean condition is addressed, the plugs will look more evenly colored. Changing the plugs now will only result in another set of white plugs that work perfectly fine.
Case in point, a few months back my lawn mower started bogging down. I pulled the plug and it was absolutely charred black. Running way too rich. No air. I change the air filter and within a few minutes the carbon was all gone from the plug and it was colored the way it should be.
There are several tuners. You can search the site and find hundreds of threads detailing the pros and cons of each.
Thundermax and TTS both have an auto-tune option, as does the pcV. The pcV w/AT will run you around $700+. The Thundermax is around $800. TTS is around $400 and always gets very good reviews.
