that sucks man, i hope you get a nice fat insurance check.

if anyone were to ever try and steal the bike it'd take them a long *** time.

long enough for me to get outside with a bat and make it VERY difficult for them to run off before the cops got there.

can't have guns here in NY, but i used to play a lot of baseball and have a bunch of louisville sluggers hangin around the house.

Most HD owners I know also own their own homes. If you can afford a Harley and a house, why not have an alarm system in your home? In addition to protection against thefts, if your house catches fire when you're away the alarm will go off for that too.

Monitoring fees are around 20 bucks a month and you get a discount on your homeowners insurance.

Unless you live out in the middle of nowhere, most thieves will go somewhere else when they see a home has an alarm.

It's just a no-brainer to me.

+1 I have ADT with motion detectors that is monitored 24/7. The motion detectors monitor infrared & motion so anything larger than a football with a body temp over 80f that moves more than 1 foot inside my garage or house sets it off. Plus there are 5 smoke detectors and 2 sirens as well. Average response time in my town is 4 minutes. So, once you set it off you have about 3-400 seconds before the LEo's hit the oneentrance way in and out of my neighborhood. Cost $300 year. Discount on my homeowners insurance is $210. So it costs me less than $100 a year. Worth every penny.

To the OP, I feel your violation and empathize with your situation.

All this security, makes me chuckle. Locks and Security stuff other than piece of mind, only keep honest people honest. A true thief will remove your stuff with or without it.

I deal with a lot of substance abusers who are either in treatment, and or trying to live substance free in recovery. The stories I hear about how they afforded their substance of choice, tells me that spending to much money on security is sometimes a waste of money.

They have stated that if it's unlocked and or the keys are in it they would leave it alone, because they felt it was a Duck (set-up).

I for one am glad to know these people are in recovery or getting help for their situation, because as they say; my lawnmower should be there when I wake up in the morning.

I am glad I live in Texas. Know of someone that had to cap a dumbass last week. One less dumbass and we will probably be doing a benefit to raise money for the legal defense. Shooting was good but the castle was a little bit long. DA is a bitch. Not elaborating any further on the internet.

Man, you guys are so blood thirsty and over what? I built my bike myself and certainly feel as strongly about it as any of you do about your own bikes, maybe more so. But it's just a hunk of iron and steel and I'd never kill someone over it.

I wonder how many of you have actually seen what killing another human being is really like? It's not like on TV or in the movies. Humans die hard and no matter the circumstances, if you have any feelings at all, it'll haunt you for the rest of your life.

As for Texas. I heard that recorded audio tape of the Pasadena neighbor that shot the two burglars but I believe the Castle Law only applies to your own house or car and not another person's property. In any case it was sickening. And I'm sure the shooter will be regretting that decision until the day he dies.
