From the video most likely the car did not signal and the bikers had to avoid him as best as they could. Seeing this a lot I would not have gone to the left but the rider that hit the car may not have had any choice. Hit the rear of the car or try to go around? Trash the car, you bet.

you're just talking nonsense now... that's what the double yellow line means, it's basic driving. every 15 year old who has taken a permit exam knows this.

After reading all of this, I am glad I just consider myself a motorcyclist.

State police tell CBS-21 News the attackers were a group of about 15 motorcyclists who reportedly roughed up the driver of a car following a problem on the roads.

The victim said his car is such a waste he no longer has a need for it.

A shattered front windshield on a Plymouth Sundance marks the spot of an angry fist’s punch. A shattered back window was the final blow to the victim’s vehicle, the victim himself has an equally shattered arm.

Angelo Couyou of Peach Bottom did not want to talk about what happened to him, he doesn’t want any more problems. According to state police a group of about 15 motorcyclists were following the four-door Plymouth down route 272 south on Monday.

The victim slowed down to make a left-hand turn as at least one motorcyclist tried to pass Couyou on the same side, despite double yellow lines. The bike and the car collided - Couyou’s left arm hanging out the window was instantly smashed. The bikers, then reportedly began taunting the driver. They asked him if his blinker actually worked, questioned his insurance, ripped off his license plate and fired off angry curse words. Within minutes the car was destroyed.

A state police trooper says he believes the group got heated because they didn’t believe that the victim used his turn signal.
Police tell us the bikers were from Maryland and took off heading in that direction. If you have any information you’re asked to call state police.

I may not know what I'm talking about here but the double yellow is there for a reason. Any knucklehead dumb enough to pass when they are present is just asking for trouble. As for signaling to turn, could it be the biker was traveling to close to react? Sounds like signaling may not have helped in this case. We all have a responsibility to follow the rules of the road and use good sense. Just my .02 cents but doesn't sound like the bikers have too much to b!tch about. I hope these aholes are caught. Bunch of pu$$ies if you ask me.

And when, in your 20 years of practicing Law, has vandalism and aggravated assault been legally justified?

Anyone who can give these scum a pass, just because they're on bikes, has something wrong with their thinking.

Well for me, I want riding tips from the rider that hit the car ( and unfortunately broke the cagers arm ) and stayed upright to ride on to Maryland. That's some good riding right there after a big wreck.

You know, it's one thing to be an idiot, it's another thing entirely to be an arrogant idiot. From wikipedia:

"In some states, it is not against the law to overtake vehicles in the presence of solid yellow lines if it is safe to do so. Section 3303 and 3305 of the Pennsylvania driver code are examples. Vermont State Law also allows passing of the double yellow line when no traffic is on the opposing side, however, one must pass quickly and return to the proper side."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-yellow_line

And in case you're contemplating the standard response that wikipedia is not a reliable source, feel free to look up the individual statutes of various states. I found the above in less than 30 seconds, and that's already more time than I have to educate you.

Yep, i got a cell phone, talk on it MAYBE twice a month, the only reason i have it is for emergency's, and no, i do not talk on it while im riding my bike or driving my truck (which has only been driven twice since just before spring)

Sounds like the perp here recognizes that fact (or else is just scared, which works ok for me, too).
I Always look out for bikers, i would never knowingly cause a biker to crash (and never have), or another cager for that matter...my point is, we all make slip ups, if anyone says they dont ever make slip ups or mistakes, then they are less than honest. I am not defending the guy, but im not pinning all the blame on him either, im just saying it sounds like everyone made a mistake, like passing in a no passing zone..And the last time i drove or rode, i had to begin slowing down before turning off one road and onto another..did the guys riding the bikes fail to notice him slowing and to stupid to figure out he may be getting ready to possibly turn? with no turn signal logic would say its a 50-50 chance he could turn right into you if you pass. Come on, both the rider and the driver done somthing stupid and unsafe and it bit them both in the azz. And then these guys (probably 5 in reality) climbed off thier bikes and gave every biker out there another black eye.
