Us 2008 touring owners remember the the dreaded and evil brake squeel we encountered when HD switched over to Brembo brakes that year. After about 8-9,000 miles I couldn't stand it any longer and re-placed the rear pads with the new and improved HD Brembo kit with the paste to apply to rear of pads. Problem solved.
The fronts pads never squeeled. I took the calipers apart a few times and cleaned them up, always filed chamfer on front side of pad. No problems. Yesterday after 26,115 miles I finally replaced the front pads. Outside front pads looked good, inside pads were getting almost questionable. Still had some life left. Rotor is still as smooth as when I bought her. I think 26,000 miles before a change out of front pads is pretty darn good! How long did your front pads last?
Just did my fronts last night at 21,580...still had some miles left on them but leaving for the Keys in about 3 weeks so thought I would change them before I leave. Won't be home for about 4,000 miles or so, I did not want to do them on the road.
