Paid MSRP + freight and setup. But this was on the day of the '07 announcements, the bike was just coming out of the crate and the dealership had TONS of '06 bikes coming in they had purchased from another dealer. I was fine with the deal.

Actually I had bought an 06 883 Custom for the Wife in March and got the same deal. There was a black pearl there at the same time, but i perfered the yellow. Thats just me. The bike came with a security system so I paid 17,745 plus 6% Indiana sales tax. MSRP is 17,420 with color option plus 325 with security system. I went in with loan approval from my credit union. All they had to do was fax a purchase agreement and I came back with a check. They gave me a certificate for the 1000mi svc. I may new to this site but I've had 87 Softail Custom since 93 and a 79 Sportster before that. The Yellow Pearl looks better in real life than the pics. I'm very happy with the bike.

New to the forum.....

I just ordered a new 2007 Road King Classic at MSRP. They wanted about 2k above (they claim they are a premium dealership). I said I would go elsewhere, so they came down immediately.

Also got accessories at 15% off, so pretty good deal.

WTF???? "Premium Dealer" - is that they best they could come up with when trying to gouge a potential customer???? [sm=lame.gif]

And people wonder why so many dealers are held in low esteem by the buying public.

Well,

The last one I bought, I think they stuck me on the freight as part of the slush fund......I'd like to know what the freight is or what they actually charge the dealer.....it depends on if it comes from York or Kansas City...KC is a lot closer to me........the guy told me that my Wideglide was coming from York???????????? so the shipping was 400+ something instead of what's listed on the site....I wasn't gonna get in a fight over a couple of hundred dollars at the time.....it was MSRP plus setup and the screwy freight and a free 1000 mile check so basically MSRP plus about 500 or 600 bucks but this was earlier on back on an 06 model.

Freight on 07s as quoted on the MOCO web site is $335 regardless of model, origin, or destination in the lower 48.

$450 below MSRP. Because when the bike came in, it had the profile wheels on it and they quoted me a price without. They honored their quote.

I thought the bad old days (late '90s to 2003) when the dealers held all the cards were gone. For those who didn't buy a bike back then, demand was far in excess of supply and good, late-model used bikes cost as much as new bikes simply because the used bikes were there. In my neck of the woods, you had to have a bike to trade (to prevent buying a bike just to sell, they said) and they charged well over list and/or made you buy X amount of stuff.
Now, with bikes plentiful, I can't believe that some dealers still are asking (and I guess getting) way over list. Gouge on a CVO, maybe, but a regular bike? No one should have to pay over list or have to buy extras, IMHO. Freight and "prep" should be negotiable, too; if not, go somewhere else, if you can. Even the "document fee" (maximum of $250 in Ohio) should be negotiable. I guess I got lucky, got my '07 for list for the bike, list for the security system, and $250 document fee (and tax/title), but no freight and no prep.
One bad thing, however: the dealer must be the only H-D dealer in the country that won't give you a lousy $25 t-shirt for free when you buy a bike, even a new one. I thought dealers consider it cheap advertising, but apparently not in this case.
