Ride bike into garage. Turn it off. Go to garage fridge and get a beer. Sit in garage chair and drink beer, slowly and lovingly, while bike cools. Once bike is cool enough, put cover over bike. Go to garage and get another beer. Drink slowly and lovingly, while dreaming about Spring. Eventually give up and go to bed.
OTOH, the last few winters, I've ridden all winter long, and learned to love ice cold days for riding. But then, I only live in NY, not Montreal or Anchorage...
would pull the batt and stabilize the fuel when I lived in the frozen north I would just run the bike every now and then in the winters. It's nice living in just north of paradise in lower AL.
how soon do i need to change the fluids? i am about to get my 1000 mile maintenance here next week or so and plan on riding at least another month or so until it gets real cold. should i go over the 1k mark and wait until i store it or do it at 1000 and do it again or is 1000k and waiting until 5k ok? i assume i will put maybe 300-500 miles on it after...depending on the weather.
Any battery and gas that goes into storage needs a tender and gas stabilizer. The climate controlled warehouse doesn't have a thing to do with it. I store 5 bikes and 5 sports cars over the winter in a climate controlled garage and they do need tenders if I want them to start next spring.

Do the 1000 service at 1000 and you will be fine. After that you can wait until right before storage.
