i avoid riding in maryland, and if I have to I take the west side of the beltway to avoid PG

riding in DC metro rush hour every day of the week...folks don't much care if they are at fault or not - every day, both to and from work, I have multiple near misses - have to admit that I've gotten so aggressive as a result that a few are probably on me, but you just can't be "nice" out there - better to demand your place on the road and defend it to the last breath, or they just run right over you

takes a lot of the fun out of it, but its still better than mass transit (metro sucks)

If there were no dangers in riding where would be the fun in that?

Seriously though it's just a reminder to never ever trust anyone but yourself out on the road. I drive a car the same way.

lol, don't necessarily deny that - but I do always put myself in the frame of mind of just having a nice safe ride in/out of the district just before firing up.... then that all goes to hell after the first 3 near misses and/or traffic is jacked on the HOV lanes because of all the non-HOV cars in them

i try to be nice, but I won't be pushed around by the other commuters who are too dumb to ride bikes too!

I can assure others reading this that Blargh is not exaggerating in the least. The drivers in the DC area are a particularly virulent strain of a$$holes!

Add to that Baltimore is almost as bad.
