Garmin GPS
Refurbished unit with full factory 1 year warranty for $110. I added the square trade 3 year extended ($16.99) when I bought it.
This is the high end Garmin 3D engine. I was going to find a 1450T for the traffic but a friend told me ads come over the dang thing.
I have used Garmin since they first came out. I have never had a problem with them. Great customer service.
Now I have to put a 12vdc to 5vdc adapter on the Heritage. This Garmin is usb powered.
I asked if they were going to upgrade the software to compensate customers for not having their gps's for a month or more? was told "you can purchase downloads online; we will not update any software during the recall". I've emailed them only 3 times, and now they aren't responding to me (48 hours and waiting for a response)
nice way to encourage repeat business.... I will definitely NEVER go with a garmin product again. (it also takes a long time to find satellites - 20+minutes at times)
As for the battery recall. 800,000 units in the US. At 20 minutes per device that's over 260,000 man hrs. Do you think they had someone waiting just for your unit to come in.
They sold 1.5 million affected units and 10 have an issue, and no injuries. To me that's a company that gives a crap about their customers. They stand behind their products.
Grow up.

do you work for garmin, or just your boyfriend?
going by THEIR estimated times, they are late - and even being late, they still cannot even tell me where my GPS is, what the status of repair is, or when it will be sent back - that is THEIR estimated times...they are over the maximum estimate that THEY provided for the recall repair
the acquisition times are what they are - so unless you are sitting in the jeep waiting for it to find satellites - holding it up in the windshield for 360* view of the sky - and pressing "keep searching" 3, 4, 5 times - shut your mouth, you know not whereof you speak (and/or you speak from the wealth of your own ignorance)
Garmin has horrible customer service in my experience - it is just that - MY experience
For what it's worth, I have had the same Nuvi 260 for a good couple of years now and it's been flawless.

And as for your problem with searching for sats. I do actually have experience with that Whip. But I guess your the type that will keep pushing the floor button on an elevator thinking it will go faster.
A call to Garmin tech support while I was in the car. A simple master reset that cleared the processor memory cache and I was back in business. Well, I guess you would rather bitch about it.
As for your unit. An estimate is just that. With all the units they are getting back it might not even be in their system yet. And think of the time they are spending just trying to explain to people like you what's going on, over and over again.
You need to go get a beer. Your stressing out over nothing.
And next time start your own thread if you want to pi** and moan. Don't hijack one of mine.
Hey "thebarzeen" Don't even mention you know what. If they hear you Heaven help us. We'll all have to go for the Wild Turkey.

you clearly believe that the "repair party" is in the right, not the customer. So if your local HD or indy tells you "we'll have your bike ready in 10-15 days, and at day 22 it still isn't ready... you're good with that right? Whatever the excuse they give is good for you? Very understanding of you - I tend to hold people to what they agree to do. Garmin did not do for me what they agreed to do.
as to acquisition issues - yes, when the little garmin pos searches, and searches....and searches.... then prompts "trouble finding satellites - continue searching? [yes] [no]" I push yes... and then it continues, and then it prompts...yes...searches...prompts....yes.... what else would you have me to with it? Product support advised that this is "due to a number of factors ..... "and of course it couldn't be a problem with the unit
so to recap
1. you posted your opinion/experience
2. I posted mine
3. you attacked my post
4. hilarity ensued
