Quick question - not looking for more power - just the pure hd sound and the pipes sound great - so I have to get a power commander or is it ok to just get the bike mapped
I have been running them on my 09 Fatbob for over 3000 miles. After about 200 miles I could see the the black build up on the inside of the pipes and knew that it wasn't running too lean. You can also check the plugs but I have had no problems and like the others said it will be fine. I have the 2.0s and they sound real good.
I think that with the new bikes with the cats, even the 2.25" baffles are ok since the cats increase the back pressure a bit (I might be wrong though). I have the 1.75" and had no probs. If I were buying some more I would probably go with the 2" baffles.
I 've had my Rush since May of 07. I've talked several times with Rush Techs.
AS posted in here many times, pipes only U don't need to do anything else, but,, U'll still be Stock epa lean on Ur A/F ratio. Wont hurt the motor but will run hotter than if U did a full stg1,
Last time (last fall) I talked to a Rush tech they now recommend to not go over 1 3/4'' to Help a little on low end TQ on a Softtail thats otherwise stock, 2'' if U do stg1 and cams.
Back in 07 they used to say up to 2'' was fine on pipe only change..
U can still go 2'' but may lose 2-3 #'s of TQ under 3k rpm's when compared with the 1 3/4''ers..which really isn't much.
Just IMO on a softail or Dyna I wouldn't go over 2'',, believe me the 2'''s are plenty loud.
Touring bike probably could go bigger since there mufflers are bigger.??? not sure, I'd call Rush to check if I had a bagger.
