Whenever I change oil I change filter, but that's me, it's only a few bucks. If the motor's had regular oil changes, really, how much crap will the filter catch? Maybe I just talked myself out of changing the filter every time...mmmm.

you can change the filter at anytime..the only reason you change it is it gets cloged up..like an air filter or furnace filter, not really contaminats in there to mix with new oil.. you only need to change the filter evry 2-3 oil changes.. hd wants to sell more filters..

Impossible to happen. The design of the filter assembly will not let that happen. He was blowing smoke up your...... Just to make him look like he is some super mechanic.

Personally I would change the filter. Thats the purpose of changing the oil to put new oil in the engine. Just my 2 cents!

Naw - no stain. It actually cleaned that particular spot a little. I went for a long, long time before I ever told anyone about this brain-fart.....

Let's see... you change your synthetic oil w/ filter at 3000 miles... I change mine at 10,000 miles and have 75,000 trouble free miles on my 03 Fatboy. Leave the filter on it 'til next change... will be OK.
