I've bought some gear with armor in it. F.X.R.G. etc. Most recently, (today), I bought a coat. Mainly for winter wear. And it's got these rubber do-dads velcro"d in them. First thing I always do is take them out. Deanna hollers. Says I need all the help I can get. I don't like them. Bulky. Feel funny, etc. I went down this past summer w/o them and what really did me in was the blunt impact. I really don't feel the armor would have helped. What do you all think?
I wear armor in both my jackets.
The flimsy rubber stuff is useless though. I bought good foam/hard plastic armor.
If you dont find it comfortable, then you are less likely to wear the jacket, and get even more injuries than what might have been prevented by the armor.
Only takes a couple times to get used to it, then you don't even know they are there.
My Switchback jacket has armor. The back piece drove me crazy against my rider's backrest. I took it out and left the armor in the sleeves. It no longer bothers me, but it won't fold up worth a darn.
Always ride with armour in elbows, shoulders and back. Some of my winter trousers have it in the knee as well. Mine are fitted with Knox armour (VERY strong, very light) http://www.planet-knox.com/
I'd recommend their stuff.
