I'd invest in a good set of heated gloves...for that matter, if you're gonna be in the wind when it's below forty degrees...Think about a dedicated cold weather suit or heated clothing. Much better use for your $$$...IMO.

I had the heated grips put on my 05 RKC last year. I have been on two long trips and ride year round. I use them often some days for only a short time some days all day long. The grips work great. Cold mornings or evenings or even riding in the rain they heat up and keep my hands and arms from getting so cold. I have trouble fitting some of the larger cold weather gloves, the heated grips allow thinner gloves and the hands stay warm.

I've been very interested in the grips since last winter. What I've found before on the forums is the reference to poor quality H-D heated grips. They seemed to not be very reliable, ceasing to function in a relatively short period. Perhaps the current models are better. I read good things about this product http://www.hotgrips.com/ Was going to buy them, but shied away from the installation process due to not trusting my abilities. You have to epoxy them on and NOT wind up getting epoxy in the wrong place and locking up the throttle control. Also, if you trade bikes you've lost them. I'm going to try the heated gloves.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'm going to go for some electric clothing. Won't ride in the rain on purpose, but can't see letting the horse sit in the garage untill next spring just because it's 40 degrees outside in the sunshine! I bought it to ride it!
