Up here in Vermont we have too many brain dead Flat Landers coming up here getting drunk as sheit for two days and then piling out into the woods early morning with their nice shiny encased 2500.00 rifles with the 600.00 scopes shooting squirrels when they don't see a deer in the first hour of being in the woods. Two years ago, some schmuck shot a couple of rounds into the roof of my house from a hilltop above...They leave crap all over the place hoot and hollar and think they own the land that they should realize is a privilege to hunt on. Then they wonder why everything is being posted!
I have been out three times so far .I havent seen anything I want to shoot yet. Im off all next week to hunt. I bowhunt during blackpowder too. I have my own land so I dont worry about other people much.
I got a Browning X bolt in .270 in june for my 40th b-day from my wife .I cant wait until gun season.
In Arkansas our bow season starts Oct 1 every year. That day is like any other national holiday, to me. Unortunately i didn't shoot anything on day 1. Had a few good looking does come in, but passd on the shots waiting for a 10 pointer I picked up on my game camera. He never showed, but on day 2 I laid waist to a very nice 8 pointer I had also gotten pics of from the camera. Nothing like some good venison!
I grew up in Rogers, Ark. Opening day of quail season and half the boys in school were absent that day. My dad, our pointer and I were always out hunting early in the morning..
Suddenly I hear a bang and a load of double 0 buckshot came by me and hit the brush pile. I could actually hear a whirring sound as it came by me. I didn't see the shooter but shouted a couple of expletives. Guy down below picks up his rifle, points it directly at us and starts looking through the scope.
That's why I just bow or muzzle loader hunt. Plus you don't have to wear that stupid orange.
well good news one more down man i love this muzzle loader acurate as hell
took a doe at 50 yards one shot out goes the lights. be stuffing the freezer this year
Congrats on the meats. Been bow hunting for a month now and have'nt gotten a shot yet. Lots of does and fawns but not one buck seen by me yet... Went this evening..had two come and snort by as I was climbing down tree..
Here's one I stuck a couple years ago on opening morning:
