The more time I spend looking at the crossbones, the more I wish I had waited another year and got that instead. But at the same time, I don't think I could part with my fatboy. I just love the looks of it. My question is, is it possible to bolt up the crossbones front end on a 2007 fatboy? I'd want to keep the fatboy front tire. And the fender I know I would have to mod to work. If it's not possible, would anyone have any other recommendations for a springer front end. I'm really starting to dig the look of the springers, and everyone I've ridden has been a blast.
The springer should bolt right up, but remember the front brakes are different as well. If you do swap to the springer, you will not really have a fatboy any more, as the biggest difference if the FL front of the fatboy....
Used Heritage Springers are on ebay all the time. If you just won the Lotto, you can buy everything brand new from Harley, but that would cost a small fortune. Otherwise just watch ebay, buy a front end and bolt it on. I guarantee you could re-list your fatboy front end on ebay when your done and recoup a considerable percentage of the costs.
Yeah Deuces, that's pretty much the look I'm going for. I'll have to keep an eye out on ebay for a springer front end. Does the heritage springer ride different then the crossbones?
Other than the brakes, what else would I need to replace to do the swap? Are the handlebars different, or just where the risers bolt up in a different location?
Many standard bars won't bolt on a Springer. The risers are wider apart, but there is a huge selection of Springer bars as well as a conversion clamp you can buy if you simply have to use standard bars.
To me a FATBOY is the sum of ALL it's part's ....... start messin with it as your suggesting and it ceases to be any model family member recognizable by it's STYLE as built by the moco ..... customizing to me is one thing what you are thinking about is going to take an icon and turn it into something people will ask you WHAT is that ? ....... nobody has bothered possibly agreeing with my views in the past so i dont hold out much hope for the future .... and untill i'm proven wrong that this is a COOL mod i will just keep living in ignorance ..... oh well ! .. **** happens life goes on

I don't agree with that. I think as long as it retains the front and rear fenders and the cast wheels, as the OP said he plans on doing, it will still be recognizable as a Fatboy.
