Default Name that noise.

2006 Road King Classic with stage 1 and early Rinehart R5 true duals. I've got a chirping or squeaking noise that is driving me nuts. It sounds like it's coming from the passenger side pipe. You really hear it at speeds under 45 or so and light to moderate throttle. As soon as you roll off the throttle the noise stops and at higher speeds the wind noise covers it up.
I've had the bag off and checked for loose brackets and such. I've also had the muffler off and looked at everything I could think of. The baffle in the muffler seems to be tight inside. I don't know what else to check. Any ideas? Name that noise.

Try some "belt ease" or other spray on the drive belt. Simple and cheap to eliminate. But an article several years ago said that most squeeks come from exhaust.

Don't spray any crap on your belt. Belt dressing only causes dirt to stick and wears out belts and pulleys. If your belt tension is causing the noise, it will likely go away if you spray it with water and go for a quick ride. If the noise goes away with water, adjust your belt.

I agree with others, though. Your problem most likely is related to your exhaust. Silicone on the muffler mounts will help rule out that area. For the rest of it, just loosen and readjust your heat shields a bit.

100% silicone spray isn't sticky, and it won't attract dirt. A perfectly aligned and tensioned belt can develop a squeak. A bit of spray isn't going to hurt a thing.

I was getting the chirp when I let OFF the throttle. It was the belt, but caused by a trashed race in the rear wheel. To be safe grab the rear whell and "rock" it side to side.

I agree with most that it's most likely the rubber mount below the saddle bag. You'll want to spray lube both the inner portion (where the pipe tang is) as well as the outer perimeter is (saddle bar mount brace).

That said, sometimes the road surface can create unusual echos. I've found that grooved concrete can give my TDs a bit of a chirp sound...

My Rineharts chirped all the time. Also just rode 1200 miles with a bud who has Rinehart TD's and they chirped also. I remember it especially when on an overpass were I had concrete surrounding me and I could really hear them. It may be the rubber mounts under the bags, but I think it's just the Rineharts.
