I love my bike. I love its sound. But, now and then, I feel a bit "embarrassed" or "guilty" about how loud it is and what I'm doing to the environment with all them dBs. C'mon. Tell me I should just "man up" and enjoy it... Please?
Are you serious? If so, buy a Volvo station wagon...or do you already have one?
I's feel more embarrassed about not spelling well!!! LOL. Hey, I feel the same way. My bike is loud and when I pass little kids they hold their ears and I feel kinda bad about it. Not to mention the horses in Amish country. For me it's not worrying about what others think as much as trying to be reasonable. Left a friends house the other day who lives about 2 miles from me and he said he could hear me the whole way home. IF that's true (not verified by his OL!) that's a bit much.
Well I hated the stock pipes, so bought some V&H short Shots. They are way too loud... so I put back on the stock pipes and started messing with the baffles. I've drilled, chopped and eliminated them all together but still couldn't get the sound I wanted. Now I've got the Short Shots back on and back to trying to figure what I could do next to the stock pipes.
Then you have the problem of matching the look of the pipes to the bike...
There is such a thing as too loud in my book, but stock is way to quite.
I live on a golf corse even though i have never played golf on it in the 15 years I have lived here. I pass through in 3rd gear doing 25 mph to keep it down. Most golfers wave to me when I pass and even had 1 or 2 give me the ol 1 finger salute because they flubbed a shot that they would have flubbed anyway whether I was there or not. Just being a good neighbor.

They started handing tickets out around here..noise ordinance....progressive starting at $250 and doubling for each subsequent offense. I have heard of fines here up to $2500 for a single offense!!! V&H came off and oems back on.
I actually like that it is quiet now. Don't feel like everyone is staring at me, plus I can easily hear the stereo. Bonus is you can get on it a bit more without drawing unwanted legal attention.
