My owners manual says you can wash the air filter element and reuse it. Do you guys do this?

I don't know about the HD filters but I have a K&N and I wash it in varsol and re-oil it every couple thousand miles.

The K&Ns are nice, we used um on the dirt track stock cars, Actually had two, one to use while the other was drying, so always had one ready to go

When I went from stock to increased flow, yes, I did had to re-jet. The stock one is not washable according to my manual, the K&N (Screamin' Eagle) is. Just not sure on the procedure and product used to wash it... anyone???

Regards.

If you have a local petroleum jobber, you can get a gallon of varsol. It's a petroleum product that cleans the filter better than soap and water and doesn't require the drying time. Just let it air dry for a hour, re-oil it and you are good to go.

Mine is a foam filter, RamFlo, so all I do is wash in soapy water, rinse, dry and oil with bar chain oil. Just that simple. Tim

I washed my stock filter once, but it took forever to dry, so make sure you have extras if you want to ride rightaway.
