LUG is when you hear the motor hitting on each cylinder because the RPM' are too low for the gear you're in, or for a lack of a better term "GRUNTING" as in straining from rpm's too low
The owners manual pretty much says that since its an air cooled engine
and you shouldn't let it idle for more than 45 seconds or a minute, what happens
at those 3 or 4 minute traffic lights or when you are in stop and go traffic for extended periods of time?
I cant imagine that they would think you can keep the bike in more or less constant motion...

There really isn't a hard and fast answer because ambient temperature makes a difference. Normal city driving isn't going to damage the engine but if you get caught where you may need to sit for over 5 minutes or so, shut off the engine. Mostly, go with your gut.
I realy do'nt know how to comment on that.I allways rev my bike a bit at red lights just to keep it from a constint idle and I've had no problems.JMHO I think you're past the ctitical stage of break in and you realy have nothing to be concerned about.I put 50 miles on my new Glide at 50 MPH and then I rode it around 60 TO 70 MPH for the next 100 miles. After that I rode it like I stole it.I now have over 3000 miles and have had zero problems.
I have a break in question. I have 135 miles on my bike. I noticed that every now and then the bike seem to jerk. I have been keeping within the recommended speeds and varying my speed. Could there be something wrong with the bike or is this a "normal" thing while the bike is breaking in?

Heather, It will cough some after you first start up as HD's are a little cold natured. If it is jerking just after shifting while you are accelerating and you know the engine is warm, then you may need a clutch adjustment. If you take it to the shop, make sure you tell them exactly what it is doing, i.e. at what speeds, gears, etc.
Thanks. It is after I've been riding and seems to be while at a steady speed. If I accelerate it stops. It is a definate jerk. It scared the hell out of me the first couple of times.
No buckhorns. They seemed to be too big a pain in the @ss with the wiring and Sean insisted that they looked funny with the 6 inch riser. HD makes a pull back handlebar for the XL1200C. I bought it yesterday but had to order the cables. Hopefully all will be good this weekend. So, since I can't ride it this week Sean is installing the stage 1 upgrade!!!!!!!!
