Just got my Fall issue of HOG. Flipping through the pages here at work I see the spread all about the new 2011 CVO bikes. Nice run down on each with some super photos. I have always admired the CVO bikes and felt the purchaser got a good deal for the money.......but. WTF? Check out the MSRPs on these new ones for 2011! StreetGlide at $32,500; UltraClassic at $34,500; RoadGlide at $37,000; Softail Convertible at $29,600! These prices just seem to me to be outrageous and ridiculously high! Is the MoCo on some kind of Milwaukee Meth or something???
I drank the kool-aid 3 weeks ago when I bought the 2011 CVO Street Glide in Diamond/Crimson Trace color scheme. Immediately had the pipes and exhausts replaced with a D&D 2 into 1 and had it dyno'ed using a TTS MasterTune.
The only other thing I did was replace the windshield with a KlockWerks. Feels weird...there isn't really anything cosmetic left to do the bike...hmmm so maybe I will buy a t-shirt. I look at it this way...when I bought the 09 Ultra, After all the mods and chrome and "stuff" I put into it...I probably could have gotten close to buying a CVO with the money I sunk into it. Guess it's a personal choice.
I don't know that I would have done this except I got a great trade-in on my 09 Ultra.
Buyer's remorse??? Yeah...right up until I got on the thing and rode it.

These prices are not really new. I always liked CVOs (for the most part) but despite hearing much to the contrary, I NEVER felt that they were a particularly great value. Please see below:
Never liked the CVO's-always felt they tried "too hard" to look outrageously custom--and the previous poster was right--you buy it, and nothing left to do to it. It's a lot easier on the wallet to buy a stock bike & customize it slowly, even if you wind up paying more over the long run. Then you make it yours exclusively. Even though the CVO bikes are pretty, they look like everybody else's CVO's.

The CVO SG is a great bike. I have a Dragonfly fairing on my 07 CVO RK so it is essentially a Street Glide. I agree they are great bikes. And riding one will do much to cure buyers remourse.
