Default Installing Hand Grips

Is there anything I need to know before I remove my Retro grips and replace them with Avons? I have a bike run this Friday and wondering if I should hold off until I get back.

Appreciate any feedback!

Very easy to do. I recommend put a wrap of electrical tape on the bar before putting the new grip on left side. It will help keep it in place without having to use glue

I put two wraps on mine. Electrical tape works very well.

I'm concerned the electrical tape adhesive will soften in the AZ heat. Back in the day when I was dirt biking, my clutch-side grip slipped off and needless to say it wasn't pretty! LOL

Do you cut the clutch side grip off or what?

I just may ride w/ new grips!

Unless you've got "throttle by wire", you're going to need to adjust the Throttle and Idle cables after the install.

Not a big deal, but if you've never done it before, might not be a bad idea to get a service manual.

Manual also says to put a small wedge in the front brake lever when loosening the housing. I think this is so you don't damage the brake light switch. Second to last time I changed my grips I didn't do this and I ended up loosing my brake light. The last time I changed my grips, I put that wedge in there and haven't had any problems in the last two years.

For the left side hand grip I just put some window cleaner on the bar so the grip will slide on. Then when it drys the grip is good to go. The grips I've put on seem to be so tight I've never needed the tape or glue so far but I like that tape idea.
