Well I guess I can either spend the $300 for chrome or put the stock black cyl on and change the clutch perch to black. Everything will be chrome except them. Damn-it. It was working fine.
I went through a similar issue with my aftermarket MC. Don't know if this will work for you, but it's something else to try. My guess is that when the MC was inverted, the trapped air at the top was pushed into the business end and you have a MC full of air.
With everything back together, turn your bars so the MC is as level as possible, pull the top off and start working the lever-- jiggle it a lot, push it hard to the out position a few times and see if you get bubbles in the MC when you pull the lever. If you do, keep playing with the lever until you actually get a spurt of fluid jumping out of the MC (cover your bike with something-- this gets a little messy and if you are using DOT4 could do some damage). The process could take a while. Also may help to tap on the lines with a screwdriver handle while doing this to work any bubbles out the top. This should get you at least some resistance to the lever. Put the top back on the MC, then do the mitivac again, then do the above process again.
I don't know how, or why, this worked for me-- but it did. Be patient, have a couple of beers, and good luck.
