Knock in primary during start up

Default Knock in primary during start up
Well the 2010 Ultra is off to the dealers for the loud knock I'm getting from the primary area during warm up, and also the shuddering I get on low speed take off while under load on inclines. Whats the odds the dealer comes back and says "normal"

I'll guess primary chain adjustment.

In a pre-2011 it is a normal thing. Does normal mean it's right? NO..The fix however is a S/E compensator for about 240 bucks. Or they will likely put in one like you have or tighten the one that is in there.

They put the SE Comp in as OEM in the Ultra Trike's. The extra weight of the machine demanded it. I would spring for the extra bucks and get the SE if I could. Really, they should have been in the ultra classic bikes also.

+1 What he said...get the SE comp. Starter knock started with the longer stroke of the 96 engine in 2007.
