Default Alarm PIN Question

I just was in the alarm section and noticed that I could not post anything????? I just installed a 06 security module in my 07 RKC and have sync'd the 1 fob with it? All works well.

I have yet to make and enter a personal pin number, my question is it necessary to do so? If I do not do it will it cause any harm down the line? Do I have to have a PIN number entered prior to adding a extra fob to the system?

Thanks,
John

Default RE: Alarm PIN Question

Auto-arming causes the system to automatically arm itself (no key fob needed) within 30 seconds after the ignition key is turned OFF.
During this period, the security lamp stays on solid to indicate auto-arming is starting up.
The vehicle may be moved during these 30 seconds without triggering the alarm, however. any motion after that period will trigger the security alarm. Upon expiration of the auto arming period, the turn signals flash twice, the security lamp begins to flash and the siren (if installed) chirps twice.
To set the auto arming selection, refer to table 11 below. The security system allows remote arming via the key fob at anytime. However, if the system is remotely disarmed (with the key fob) but the ignition key is not turned ON within 30 seconds, the system will rearm itself when auto arming is enabled.
that area of the forum is do-it-yourself,no posting there. But pretty much covers alot of questions.Hope this link helps. In the Alarm forum where i got this, there is a chart you might want to look at

WHHHHHHAT?
I do not use the auto alarm on anything. All I was asking is do I need to create and enter a PIN number in my new security module (its a 00-06 Security Module) not the new 07 one? Personally I rather not have a pin entered?

I just purchased a extra fob and that will stay in the house with the spare key.

The PIN is in case your fob stops working or malfunctions. With the PIN you can disarm the security system.

I had to use that feature while in Colorado visiting my daughter. The fob decided not to work while the security system was armed.
