HD rider killed
Sounds like the SF Bay bridge, or even 880 around Oakland. Some of those ridges catch you good.
Someday the DOT will think about bikes... someday[:@]
I was riding Trans Canada 1 through Glacier National Park last July. There were about 4 different areas where the pavement had been ground. The signs were not written but pictograms showing what appeared to be to me like three mountain peaks. WTF? The grooves were like nothing I have ever seen in the US. Must have been 2" deep and 2" across. It really threw my bike around at any speed. At one place, there was a bright yellow Goldwing in the ditch alongside the road. No doubt, a rider was thrown off his bike by the violent shaking from the grooved pavement.
One patch was almost five miles long. Aside from the one pictogram signs, there was no other warning evident. And not even any road machinery!
More needs to be done to protect motorcyclists from irregular pavement or no pavement at all. In Montana, we rode through probably 10 miles of gravel detour where the highway was being rehabilitated. A less experienced rider would be at a huge disadvantage in these circumstances.[:@]
