Thanks for the thoughts everyone. Yes, I am sure that "back in the day", when all bikes were springers, people rode long distances. Yes, "touring" has been around for a long time. I understand that touring is different from trekking long distances without any specific thing to see except the final destination. With touring, not only are you going somewhere (doesnt even have to be that far), but your off to see or "discover" anything that comes along the way. Kinda like sight seeing on a bike. I like to use it as a solid excuse to visit new places and new countries (and get away from home).
I just want to be able to get there without an acking body! LOL! Thats why I asked the question. I love the springer look, but have never ridden on one. So I dont know how comfortable they are for long periods of time.
Once again, thanks, and I look forward to more posts and opinions.

A glide front end is superior to a springer front end in form of technology and function, but I am sure the springer will handle just fine. Hang onto your glide front end then you can always swap it back if you don't like the ride on the springer. Front ends are farely easy to sell. The springers do look cool.

My Harley springer is very comfortable.Had it up to 115 miles per hour Sunday handled it great. It is a soft tale so not much cornering clearance. Don't know about other springers other than the ones made by Harley.

Only rode `1 springer,, back in 78 and it was 16'' over...
it rode super on the super slab but was a pain in the a$$ in town...
Honestly I seen more riders having back pain from being bent over on the low bars and forward controls than having saddle pain.....
