Definitely a personal preference. My WG had an non-detachable Memphis Shades on it. I have never ridden without it so I can't say what that's like. However, I think the Memphis Shades looks better than any HD shield I have seen.

That's what's nice about the King.
Me, I usually leave it on - I have a LRS 17" tinted shield. I like keeping the wind off my chest, especially on longer rides.

I ride without a windshield cause I love the feel of the wind and that open feeling. That being said if it is cold ( below 35 ) or raining I will take a bike with a windshield for my 30 mile commute to work at 10 at night.

I put a windshield on my Fatty for the first time for a cross country trip when I was 60 years old... I wonder now why I was so stubborn before. Much more overall safety and comfort... plus I get to choose my own meals now! LOL

The trick is...gotta add tunes and then it distracts you from the other annoyances. Well, having all the gages, lowers, extra storage and deflectors helps too. Oh heck, just trade for a big boy bagger & you'll be good to go...

When I was looking to buy a touring bike years ago I went with the RoadKing over a bike with a batwing because I needed to have that quick detach windshield. I think I rode without it maybe twice in the 8 years or so I owned the RK.
