okay folks. first of all when panic sets in ,riders have common misstake to use rear brake first. how do i know that just go to where there was bike accident look on pavement. always a long or short curving skid mark. thats the tail tell signs. most riders can ride fast but do they ever learn how to train ones yurself to stop quicky. NO. front brake is the main stopping power. so don't wait for accident, be brave ride yur bike 70 mph and hammer on yur front brake. if u can learn to control that with slight rear brake presser u will stop very quicky. that's if time dosen't kill u to hit something. personally abs is just faults illusion. rain, gravel, sand, speed, deers, trucks, cars abs isn't going to help. i have road king no abs brakes, i can stop my bike very quicky at 70 mph. just remember once that front wheel loses traction yur done. abs or not.
You won't be nearly as good as you think you are when the **** hits the fan.
Ditto everything that ThunderBueller said ( In both of his posts). There have been MANY studies done and depending on which one you are reading bikes with ABS have anywhere from 25- 45% fewer total accidents and from 22 - 38% fewer FATAL accidents. Explain that one if ABS is so dangerous!! ABS is absolutely worth the money!!
Anybody that thinks they can stop shorter or under more control under any road conditions without ABS is lying to themselves. They think they are better than they really are and I don't care how long they have been riding! I've got it and would never buy another biker without it.
Not ridden a bike with abs but it does make a difference for those one or two pukering moments in cars at least ... also it saves from flatspotting tires.
If I had ABS last July when I skidded into oncoming traffic I wouldn't be recovering from a broken back, both wrists, rt lower leg and internal bleeding. My wheels locked up and the bike didn't slow down. If I had ABS I could of stopped in time and saved my ***. I will never own another bike without if I can help it.
