Injector Problem?

Injector Problem?
I think my injectors may be leaking. When I bought the King prev owner said to turn key and wait for test light to go out before hitting starter. Worked fine, after a while I notice it is getting hard starting doing this warm, so I hit starter right after turning key on. All good. Now it acts flooded if I wait to hit starter when cold. Now the fuel mileage has dropped noticeably. Are the injectors serviceable? need replaced? PS bike has almost 50,000 miles.

First check the wires and connections to the injectors as some come loose and cause intermittent problems. I would try running some techron in your gas (3-4 oz per tank) and see if it cleans them. If you do need to replace them get the part number and oreder them from Zanotti's. They aren't that expensive.

Yeppers for flooding on starting,,, along with the cam tensioners I'd check the tail light oil level......

Might not be firing due to debris on cam position sensor or timing being off due to tensonioners worn down...Laugh if you will but I have seen it...I have had customers tell that their bike was flooding when it wasn,t even getting any gas...He has 50,000 on that bike if the tensoniers have not been replaced...flooding will be the least 0f his problems.

Its an 02. Cam tensioners were replaced at 25,000 miles when the top end was done (by prev owner). Thanks for the help, I will try the techron.

If the injectors are plugging, you will NOT have a "Flooding Problem" the issue will be too Lean; and you'll have a Hard Starting Cold and a Hesitation on Acceleration complaint. Running a few tanks of Name Plate ie Chevron, Mobil, 76, Shell, etc. (Not Discount) premium fuel will clean them just as well as any additives. If you've been running Name Plate Fuel, the odds of your injectors being plugged are Slim and None and Slim's walking out the door.
If the Injectors are Leaking that is easy to check. Pull the injectors and arrange them so that they are still attached to the wiring harness and the fuel line. Place a couple of small cans to catch any fuel and crank the engine while you watch the spray pattern and the tips of the Injectors. The Injectors should: 1.) Produce a nice cone shaped spray pattern, and 2.) Should NOT drip even one drop from the Injector after you stop cranking the engine. Even one drop means they are leaking. If either or both Injectors are leaking you will almost always need to replace them. Most chemical cures are temporary at best and are so harsh (very high Methanol content) that they cause more problems in the long run than they solve.

I buy most of my gas from QT, a local conv store chain that sells top tier gas. It is very good gas, rarely need to change fuel filters. Good call on the additive. I will check the connectors and pull the injectors and check them. Thanks everyone for your help.
