They are called Team Extreme and are sponsered by Buell. Buell was the first manufacturer to step up and take stunters seriously. Also, if you just cram on the front brake on a harley at 50 mph I think the front would lock and skid vs bringing the rear up.

On a basic Harley a controlled stoppie will be near impossible because of the travel in the front forks. A sport bike has very little travel in the first place
Not true. Your standard jap sportbike (R1, R6, GSX-R etc) has 120mm front fork suspension travel. A 2006 Street Glide has only 117mm. I also found the fork travel for the 2001 Road King. Same there, 117mm.
Last year in Mazatlan (Mexico) at the national HOG rally, they hired a guy from the US, he did stoppies, wheelies, burnouts, doughnuts, you name it... on a V-Rod
I doubt it is possible to do it in any other HD bike (excluding the rice burner wannabes Buell)

RE: STOPPIES!!!

First of all, stoppies are stupid dangerous!
On a basic Harley a controlled stoppie will be near impossible because of the travel in the front forks. A sport bike has very little travel in the first place, and the guys who do these kinds of stunts usually have them maxed out so that there is nearly zero travel. Next is the tires, to perform a controlled stoppie your front tire has to stick like glue, good soft composite along with a well warmed up tire. Next is this balance thing, on a sport bike the riders ability to change the center of gravity is much more pronounced than on any cruiser. On an average sport bike when the rider is positioned on the pegs, butt up and leaning forward the weight that needs to be lifted is about 150 lbs, I would estimate on anything bigger than a sportster that weight will be somewhere around 400 lbs, and on a sportster, maybe 300 lbs. I am not talking dead lift hear, it is more of an excercise in inertia.
I would say that a controlled stoppie is not possible on a Harley, however if you were going 50 or 60 mph and hammered on the front brake to lock you may get the rear up. How it comes down, well I don't want to be on it.
Oh yeah, why do you guys play into the trolls so easily?
Don't call BUELL rice-burners. It's about RESPECT for something AMERICAN. BUELL uses HARLEY motors so it can be AMERICAN. Sure, BUELLS are junk and other sportbike riders laugh and BUELL can't seem to finish an AMA Formula Extreme race, but it's AMERICAN. So a little RESPECT please.

I tried today on the way to the PX. I consider myself a pretty decent rider and I couldn't get my 06 Bob to do one. I am gonna talk to my little bro tonight and see if he can do one on his sporty...Maybe get him to take a pic if he can.
I will say it is pretty hairy even if you can't do it. Launching just the front brake and shifting forward is very counter intuitive.
