Std. gerbing jacket vs "new" micro wire?

We have the "old style," and love them. Yes, you can feel the wires in the garment, but it is not intrusive. Ebay was full of "deals" on the old style when microwire was introduced.
For the low difference in your quoted price, I'd go the for new technology. Our US military did....

Old and New
I also have both old vest and both old and new gloves. I bought the new gloves because the old one were a little bulky. I could operate everything ok but they are just bulky. I can't tell any difference except that with the old one you can feel the wire if you search by squeezing.
