I'd point the bike into the lawn to miss the icy drive if at all possible.
I spent a good amount of the winter growing up riding my trail bike, well suited for winter runs. I used to lead snowmobiles through the wooded trails. After the snow machines had made the run and packed it down, the corners often were bermed with snow and I could run through the tree trails faster and better than the snow machine. Ice racing used to be the winter rage and some places in upper MI, it's their winter festival attraction. All my friends that were dedicated ice racers had the screw stud tires and it's amazing the grip you have on one set up that way.

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
I wouldn't ride my bike on hardpack snow/ice. I would be really piseed at myself if I cracked a saddlebag or dented a gastank when I dropped it. However, If you need to transport your bike down a 1/4 mile long snowpacked driveway, I would look around for a cheapie garage sale riding lawnmower and attach a small flatbed trailer to it. Ride the bike onto the trailer and With the bike resting on the kickstand maybe use one tie down to hold it towards the kickstand side. I think that would hold the bike in place for a lawnmower slow ride down a 1/4 mile driveway. A used mower and trailer would probably be cheaper than a repaired and painted gastank.
