I have to say that a little over a year ago I was asking myself that exact question. Crossbones or deluxe. I decided on the deluxe, but went with the Road King Custom. (I'm not even sure how that happened)
Seven "families" of Harleys to pick from...plenty of models in each family to narrow down your selection.
pick the one that suits you, and your riding style.
The only "wrong way" would, (I suppose) is buying what WE tell you to buy, instead of the bike YOU want

I agree with you and its funny because if you knew me you would know i usually do the opposite of what people tell me.. The only reason i asked cause i like both bike the same they both look old school they both have floor boards, they both have fat front tire IMO will handle the road better.. The main reason i asked is because i had my mind dead set on the Crossbones but then realized for he same price the deluxe comes with passenger seat with pegs and was built out of the box for 2 people. If i go with the Bones i have to install rear seat and pegs for more money.
If you like "old school", want a springer, and a bike set up for two out of the box, look for a used FLSTSC. +They have the correct rear fender as well.
get the deluxe w/abs brakes, my friend had a springer softail a few years back and could never get used to the way the bike reacts when using the front brake. Make sure you rent both bikes for a least a day prior to making your decision, many dealers will credit your rental expense if you end up purchasing a bike from them after doing this.
Well guys thanks for he imput. Seems like alot more Deluxe fans out their! Im going to go over both bikes for awile before i make my decision. In the end they both have the old school look and their both nice. If i get the Bones going to put rear seat and pegs and if i get the Deluxe gotta put apes on her! Also another interesting fact i learned at the dealer is that the Crossbones is being discontinued 2011 is the last year!!!
