Believe it or not the dealer has the sticker price on the Street Bob at $16,000 and the Wide Glide around $19.
I know I can get it for less but I was just wandering if there was any validity to his suggestion.
19k for a dyna? good god man, get thee to a different dealer, asap!
i paid slightly more than that for my road glide.
as far as what bike to get, which one feels most comfortable to you? sportsters are fine bikes, but a lot of folks feel like they 'outgrow' them very quickly. a dyna is a cool bike as well, but if you are planning on doing a lot of touring, then it might not be what you are looking for. roadkings are very versatile, and is kindof the jack of all trades in the touring line up.
i must admit i'm very confused by your salesman, pushing you towards either a roadking or a sportster? is he schizo or something?
Just wondering if I should look into any of the other bikes the dealer was trying to suggest. I want a Dyna but am open to suggestions. It seems his suggestions are more to benefit his wallet; or are they decent bikes I should consider in my price range?
Wow, you're covering the entire product line there every thing from sport bikes to touring bikes.
I suggest you take some time. Think about what you want, and how you will use it, shop around do some price comparisons, check with private parties, if your lucky you will find a different dealer/salesman. You need to decide what you want, then try and figure out how to pay for it.
(I have no idea how you got pre-approved without knowing basically what kind of bike.).
If its a Road King you are interested in I suggest you buy private. I brought mine privately in November for $11,500 with only 13,000 miles and lots of 'nice' upgrades.
Suggest you get your finances in place and go searching the local adds or try www.chopperexchange.com, I'm sure you can find a better deal for the bike YOU want!
I'd say FatBoy, but that's the bike that I wanted. I think the dealer wants to pick the color for you as well as options. You may need another dealer. there's nothing wrong with a Sportster, but if you can afford a full sized bike (assuming you're not small physically) go with a larger, more comfortable bike. That is, of course, unless you love the Sportster. If so, buy it!

By the way, 17K out the door for my FatBoy, chrome wheels andanti theft as well.
Why would you buy a bike for 19,000 when MSRP is 12,000 for a new street bob or superglide? Is there something written on your head the stealer, crook, robber, er I mean the salesman says he can rip you off.
Why buy a sportster when you want a dyna?
Did you know that SG and SB have better lean angles then a sportster, larger tank/ fuel range, more comfortable ride, 6 speed, larger engine?
Why buy a used touring bike when you don't want a touring bike and can afford a new dyna?

FWIW, I could not decide either when the time came. So........I rented a softail, Ultra and another Dyna for a 4 hr block. The final decision for what I wanted was easy, I went with the Softail. It is up to you, buy what YOU want, if you let them talk you into another bike you will be kicking yourself in the butt. Then you will find yourself trying to trade it for the bike you really wanted in the first place.
