I would hope the Zipper on the jacket was "great". After leather quality its the next most important thing.

"I ordered the wrong size and had to send it back. I had the new size the same week."

I agree that everyone has your same story. Their service is amazing.

Bought a Leatherup jacket, zipper broke within the first couple of months, and they gave me a hard time about replacing it. I said screw it had it repaired locally and wont buy from them again. My $0.02.

I love my outlaw and Rockwell Helmet from them and certainly would love a great price on leather but that zipper thing is major sticking point with me.
I had to know so I ordered the jacket. I want to see it, touch it and get a sense of the value. At the same time it looks like I am getting the Schott I found so after a quick look over the LeatherUp will be shipped right back.

Get the Schott. Not trying to say the Leatherup is not a decent jacket, I'm just saying the Schott is WAY better.

Schott is a good jacket but probably not worth the difference in price with Leatherup. I say this not having owned a Leatherup but having read all the positive comments on these forums. I do own an older Schott and just returned a new Schott because I was not impressed with the quality of the leather or workmanship. I think they are not as good as they were in the distant past.

In my experience a Vanson is much better than a Schott however Vanson is now made in El Salvador and I don't know about their new quality either.

Langlitz is still made in Portland OR and of the highest quality. As someone posted, Lost Worlds is also made here and of excellent quality.

All the best US made leather jackets are expensive. The better Chinese and Pakistan made jackets are less expensive and probably will last as long as you need them. I have all of the brands that I have mentioned except Lost Worlds and I also have HD jackets including FXRG and they are all very good leather jackets.

I have to laugh at attitudes and opinions like cameraboys. He is wrong about Vanson as well as China. Whether we like it or not China is now our ally. They are our largest trading partner, supply most of all the clothing for American citizens, most of the technical goodies that we enjoy, and most importantly own most of the US bonds. I don't think we will be going to war with them unless they try to cash in all their bonds at once. And then we will need them to finance our war effort against them as they are financing our war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Or, this could all be BS.

Some of Vanson's production has moved offshore. Not all of it, the more expensive jackets are still made in the US. I've got 4 Vanson jackets, 3 Shotts, 2 HD jackets (including the leather FXRG), and 1 Langlitz. They kind of accumulated over the years, lol. I'll probably sell the FXRG and buy another Vanson.

My Langlitz jacket is definitely a great jacket, but I really think the better Vansons are almost as good, for about half the price.

I've two jacket one VENTED leather
Both with Armor
I'm well familiar with the vanson line. MOst of their jackets do not have armor. Especialy the ones I was interested in. There is no excuse to make a leather motorcycle jacket today that does not at least have pockets for optional armor.

Whether we like it or not China is now our ally. They are our largest trading partner, supply most of all the clothing for American citizens, most of the technical goodies that we enjoy, and most importantly own most of the US bonds.
Let me rephrase that to be more accurate:

china is our competitor for oil and resources on the world stage, and all wars are fought over competition for resources. Within my lifetime, China WILL come for what it wants, and they will take it from us.

MOst americans have way more clothes than they even wear. go look in your wife's closet. How many clothes does one person need? We are spoiled, we buy crap we don't need because we have been conditioned to, and we have been conditioned to buy cheap garbage that strengthens our future enemy. They hold most of our debt. Right now they need us, but not nearly as much as we need them.

Calling china our "trading partner" is like claiming that the IRS pays you money every year just because you get a small tax return.

The trade defecit is a humiliating embarassment. Money goes out, and much less comes back in. Where does it go? To china, so that they can buy oil from the world market and drive up the price of our share of the oil. Oh, and it goes into building F22 killing chinese stealth fighter/bombers.

Can't blame china for protecting itself or its interestes. But we are setting ourselves up to be economic slaves and perhaps even worse.

I wanted a Schott jacket, but the style that I like was only in a XXL which was just a little big, (I wear a 40). Could not find that style anywhere. 4 years ago I bought a Firstgear Leather jacket at half price. The zipper just broke in Sept. They replaced the zipper at no cost including shipping both ways. They have a 10 year warranty on all there leathers. JC
