Just curious, but what business is it of the dealer's if you have a MC endorsement or not? Do they check everyone's license when they ride on/off their lot. If you bought it, it's not their bike.
I think there is a liability issue as far as the dealer is concerned, and yes they do check everyone's license when they take a bike off of their lot....
They could care less whether you have a license or not,as long as it has insurance on it when it leaves.
Dealers do not ask for license endorsements...if you have a loan on the bike, then you will need total insurance coverage...if you are buying outright, only liability insurance to register with DMV..that's how it works out here in NY.
Not helpful to you now, but it used to be in California all you had to do was take the written test. There was not a skills test. In fact, you could get your motorcycle permit before you could get a regular driver's license. I had a MC permit when I was 15 1/2. When I I took the driving test, they added on the motorcycle endorsement. That was all 30 years ago.
I want to buy this Harley in Feb. but i dont have the "M" endorse license and none of the classes start till March. how the hell do i get it home or even drive it without the license?
I dont have any friends that ride and one of my friends is actually waiting for me to get my bike before he even looks.
Any idea's?
Will a Harely dealer let me drive off with it as long as i have a regular drivers license?
The only answers that will matter here, are those that address the DMV laws of Delaware, as each state is different.
In some states, like FL, you can't purchase a motorcycle without a MC endorsement.

You guys forget...if you don't have an endorsement then you don't have an operators license and if you don't have an operators license than you don't have liability insurance. Better read the fine print. Also, in most states if you don't have an endorsement and you have an accident it is automatically your fault. Yes, that means some soccer Mom can hit you and then sue you because you shouldn't have been there in the first place. Plus, your insurance company will tell you to go pound sand.

Here in Alabama, you can not test ride or ride out the door( with your bike) if you don't have it. I do know that if you have got your MSF card you can take it to the DMV, and they will wave the test. I think the MSF class is 250 to 300$.
I would be willing to bet that if you ride it without a Motorcycle endorsement that your insurance would not be valid, if you can even get motorcycle insurance without an endorsment. Most insurance companies do a background check and they can tell instantly if you have a motorcycle endorsement or not. Read the policy, I bet it states clearly, no license.....no insurance.

+1 exactly....ALL insurance policies require the operator to have a valid operators license to be driven. They will cover the bike sitting in the garage for fire/theft/damage. But that's it. I doubt however they will issue a policy without your endorsement. State Farm checked mine.
