I'm in northeast Ohio. I have a 2003 883r and my battery is still original. It has never been on a tender and never been jumped. 22,000 miles, 8 winters and still going

Newer bikes with EFI, ABS and CD players need tenders more than ever as there is a parasitic draw on those items even when turned off. The brains like to eat 24/7. Even more if you have XM radio.

02' Road King still has original.
when it balks, in goes a new one. The sealed batteries seem to be light years ahead of the old stuff.

six years know i always pull it out in the winter and set on wood shelf in my basement,i usually give it a trickle charge for about 4 to six hours before i put it back in.never have used a tender just dont trust anything hooked up to a battery fora long period of time when not in use.and its already been 5 months since my last ride.(winter sucks in mn.)
