Put oil in clutch housing
AGAIN, STUPID STUPID STUPID.
I changed out the broken Shifter Cable(Clutch cable), which made it necessary to remove the clutch housing (This implies you pulled apart the primary and removed the clutch assembly. The Primary or Primary cover covers clutch assembly side / or was it the Transmission, where the clutch cable attached inside?).
To make a very long, 12 hour day, short,
maintenance cycle, I added 1 quart/32 ounces of Syn3 into the Clutch Housing (Primary?), via the dipstick tube (no tube to fill the primary, inspection covers come off / tube to fill is on oil tank... engine / crankcase oil)! STUPID STUPID STUPID.
Yes I should have added it to the other side, but I was not thinking.
I can ride it, up to 3rd gear, now she won't go further, it's like she is slipping. (Sounds like you never adjusted the clutch cable correctly?)
Any GOOD ADVICE out there?
Help!
BIKE WEEK IS HERE.
OK it's hard to help when the terms are confusing.
What I'm guessing happened is you don't have any oil in the transmission, or it's low from opening up the clutch cable cover on the transmission to attach a new clutch cable. Instead you put the oil down a tube which would be the engine crankcase oil, the "filler tube" is connected to the oil tank. So you have put excessive oil in the crankcase that needs to be drained to the proper level.
Now if you had used syn oil in the primary you may have issues with slippage as syn oil can be too slick for clutches to grab.
But what I think your issue is, besides too much oil in oil tank, is that the new clutch cable needs to be adjusted correctly. It's a 2 step process of adjusting the clutch release behind the derby cover on the outer primary, and then taking up the slack so the cable is in the correct position when releasing / engaging the clutch.
Because I see a lot of misunderstanding in the answers, and I see the confused details of your post I'd suggest asking a buddy who knows Harley's to give you a hand. I think you just need a clutch adjustment, and to add a little lube to the trans, and drain some out of the engine. You can check your primary level when you pull off the derby cover to adjust the clutch.
BTW some run the same fluid in all 3 holes. I prefer an engine oil, and Harley's trans / primary fluid. Keep in mind there's 3 different lubricated areas: The Engine crankcase, the Primary, and the Transmission.

As JohnnyC said, you need to get someone that is more knowledgeable than you are to have a look and show them exactly what you did. At the very least you will learn something.
All is well now. I drained the Engine Oil, Tranny and Primary Clutch, changed the O-Rings and Gaskets and tweaked the Clutch cable. Everything is working nicely now.
Thanks for putting up with me. Vroom vroom I will see you at Main Street!
